The Central Bank of Rwanda has initiated a public consultation regarding the forthcoming pilot of its Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). This call invites all stakeholders to contribute their insights through an online questionnaire accessible on the official website of the Central Bank.

The launch of Rwanda’s CBDC may gain momentum, bolstered by the government’s dedication to enhancing the country’s financial infrastructure, particularly concerning e-commerce, online payment systems, and associated features.

Recent trends favoring the adoption of Central Bank Digital Currencies globally have been underscored in the latest report by the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) on CBDC implementation, published earlier this year. The BIS Innovation Center diligently monitors developments in CBDC implementation and the collaborative efforts required therein.
